In Western society we now question a world dependent on prescription drugs and invasive surgery, and look for natural alternatives.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine (NZCCM) is attracting mixed cohorts of undergraduates \u2013 domestic and international students enrolled in BHSc degrees in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. Many graduates set up as qualified practitioners, recognised by ACC operating on their own or through clinics upon successful completion of their qualifications.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We asked some current final year students about NZCCM as a place to study.\u00a0 The College was rated highly across a range of parameters \u2013 facilities\/services provided, quality of teaching, structure of programmes and practical training given at the College Clinic.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Students interviewed displayed a great degree of confidence and positivity with the knowledge and skills gained as part of their degree.\u00a0 They were unanimous in their feedback stating that the College was a \u2018great place to study Chinese Medicine\u2019 and that it had exceeded their expectations with lecturers who were very supportive and motivating and the programmes offered structured and delivered well.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Clinic, located on campus and open to members of the public is well-equipped. \u00a0Students have been very successful in treating a range of conditions \u2013 pain (back, shoulder and joints), sciatica, high blood pressure, skin conditions (eczema and psoriasis), infertility, stress, depression, kidney failure, insomnia and excessive sweating using a variety of treatments from acupuncture to cupping and moxibustion under the guidance and watchful eyes of their supervisors.\u00a0 Happy patients, satisfied with treatments received regularly recommend friends and relatives, who in turn also provide \u2018positive word of mouth referrals\u2019.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">NZCCM successfully hosted the 13<sup>th<\/sup> World Congress of Chinese Medicine at the Aotea Centre in Auckland in October last year with about 800 attendees from around the world.\u00a0 Early this month saw the College host yet another successful Conference event at its campus in Greenlane \u2013 the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> International Symposium on Clinical and Research Development of Chinese Medicine.\u00a0 A total of 150 experts and professors from China and within New Zealand attended.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A Memorandum of Understanding outlining specific collaboration around academic exchanges and research developments in Chinese Herbal Medicine was signed between NZCCM and the China Association of Chinese Medicine, one of the high level authoritative TCM societies in China.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">November 10, 2017 a day after the Conference, NZCCM also hosted a delegation led by the Commissioner of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and signed another Memorandum of Understanding on the possibility of establishing a Chinese Botanical Garden, representing a significant step forward.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Applications for February 2018 intakes for BHSc. \u00a0degrees in Chinese Medicine (four years) and Acupuncture (three years) both at Level 7 are now open.\u00a0 The College also offers the Diploma in Tuina (Level 7 \u2013 2 years), the Diploma in Wellness and Relaxation Massage (Level 5 \u2013 1 year), the Diploma in Remedial Massage (Level 6 \u2013 1 year) and the New Zealand Certificate in English Language (NCEL Level 4 over 20 weeks). \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0The College also plans to have an Open Day on <u>Tuesday 5<sup>th<\/sup> December<\/u> commencing 9.30 am.\u00a0 Open to members of the public and prospective students, the College plans to have presentations, a campus tour, sessions with lecturers and free healing day for visitors on the day.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Visit the New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine at 321 Great South Rd, Greenlane or phone 09 580 2376 to make an appointment. www.chinesemedicine.ac.nz.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NZCCM hosts Happy Students and a Successful Conference &nbsp; Today people are focused on health issues more than ever before.
